Aguascalientes, Mexico - March 13, 2024 - In a significant stride towards bolstering economic ties between Mexico and the United States, the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce and the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism of the United Mexican States (CONCANACO SERVYTUR) renewed a Cooperation Agreement. Aimed to promote foreign trade, services, tourism, and investments while enhancing the positive image of both nations, this agreement was signed by Albert Zapanta, President and CEO of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, and Ing. José Héctor Tejada Shaar, President of CONCANACO SERVYTUR, with incoming CONCANACO President Octavio de la Torre as a witness. 

The agreement recognizes the crucial role played by institutions in driving economic progress. By underscoring the significance of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and its 2020 renegotiation into the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), both parties are committed to leveraging their collective strengths to advance bilateral trade, tourism, and investment. Founded in 1917, CONCANACO SERVYTUR has become a cornerstone of Mexico's economic landscape. With 257 confederate chambers and 1,857 municipalities representing 4.8 million companies across the Mexican Republic, CONCANACO SERVYTUR has played a pivotal role in representing, promoting, and defending the interests of commerce, services, and tourism in Mexico. 

CONCANACO SERVITUR celebrated its 108th General Assembly in Aguascalientes, Mexico, on March 14 and 15, 2024. The Assembly included the First Meeting of Binational Chambers, with the presence of the Brazil-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Spain-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, and several other binational chambers. The meeting fostered greater integration with Mexican businesspeople, strengthened organizational ties, and identified collaboration opportunities to benefit both countries. Each chamber had 10 minutes to present its activities briefly, leading to a fruitful exchange of ideas and strategies.

The USMCOC and CONCANACO SERVYTUR Agreement will be in force for two years, effective immediately, with provisions for extension by mutual agreement. Both parties express their unwavering dedication to unlocking the full potential of bilateral economic relations between Mexico and the United States.
