December 1, 2014. Miami, FL – The U.S. –Mexico Chamber of Commerce Inter-American Chapter was on hand with local Broward and Mexican Consulate dignitaries to celebrate the inaugural flight of the Mexican airline Volaris from Mexico City to Ft. Lauderdale. The airline will run three non-stop flights a week from Mexico City and two from Guadalajara into the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Mr. Holger Blankenstein, Chief Commercial Officer for Volaris and Chip LaMarca, Broward County Commissioner cut the ribbon and provided a few comments on the new service. Mexican Consul General, Jose Antonio Zabalgoitia spoke about the opportunities that this new service will open to South Floridians and Mexicans living in Florida to visit two of the largest cities in Mexico.
