May 24, 2017- Washington, D.C. – The United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce presented the “Good Neighbor Awards” during it traditional gala dinner on May 24, 2017 at Organization of American States headquarters, in Washington, D.C.

This prestigious Award was presented to:

For the Public Sector:

Honorable Rick Perry, U.S. Secretary of Energy and Former Governor of the State of Texas, in recognition to his leadership in fostering collaboration between the U.S. and Mexico during his tenure as Governor of the State of Texas.

Honorable Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, Mexico Secretary of Economy, in recognition to his vision and leadership in strengthening the commercial relationship between the U.S. and Mexico.

For the Private Sector:

Lic. Juan Antonio González Moreno Chairman and CEO of Gruma, in recognition to his leadership as Chairman and CEO of Gruma SAB, parent company of Mission Foods, for the very successful operations of Mission Foods, and for the visionary founding of the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center.

Governor Leadership Award:

Hon. Miguel Márquez Márquez, Governor of the State of Guanajuato, in recognition of his leadership in the implementation of successful trade and investment policies, that has positioned Guanajuato as an important center for the automotive and aerospace industries.

6th Jose Juan de Olloqui Award for Hemispheric Leadership:

Ambassador Juan B. Sosa, Consul General of Panama and former Ambassador of Panama to the U.S. (1987-1989), for his continuous support to the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce initiatives that have brought together closer not only Mexico and the U.S. but also Panama, which plays a very important role in the commercial relations in the Hemisphere, particularly after the completion of the Panama Canal expansion, that that has brought an enormous potential to increase trade in U.S. and Mexico ports.
