Congressman Pete Sessions hosted the Chamber’s Border Leaders Reception in the always inspiring Capitol. He was hospitable and engaging even with the Committee on Rules meeting that he was leading in the adjacent committee room, and was very generous in the time he spent with the group. Highlights of the well-attended gathering included the presence of Judge William S. Sessions (the Congressman’s father), who mixed with the crowd and spoke about his time as FBI Director and as U.S. District Judge, Western District of Texas in El Paso. As part of the program, Cong. Pete Sessions joined Al Zapanta and, Virginia Cong. Bob Goodlatte, Chairman of House Judiciary Committee, and Cong. Beto O’Rourke, Texas 16th District (El Paso), in conferring recognition awards to visiting Mayors, Oscar Leeser of El Paso, Enrique Serrano-Escobar of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Kenneth D. Miyagishima of Las Cruces, N.M.
The three mayors were presented a special recognition to acknowledge their collaboration efforts and contributions in building a stronger U.S.-Mexico relationship.
